Comments for Stryper, To Hell w the Devil

OK, so it actually went platinum in '86. Anyone can make a mistake.

This album is by many considered the best Stryper album ever (with "Soldiers under command" as a great nr. 2). The album was realeased with two different covers - the first one with a drawing of 3 angels taking care of a devil, the second is totally black.

Enjoyable God Rock. The title tune still gives me shivers.

This album is VERY cool. There is a Stryper tribute album coming out SOON. Many tracks from this album are on it. This album is a blend between classic metal and melodic metal in my opinion. If anyone wants write me about Stryper. THEY ROCK!!!

Stryper's best songs (some good stuff is also in Soldiers...).

To address the issue of the original cover, there are not three, but four angels (one for each of the members of the band) on the front of the album throwing a demon into hell. This album got a lot of sales due to the hit "Honestly" which received huge airplay on MTV at the number one slot for a while. Definitely one of the top ten best all-around albums of the 80s. Lyrics are blatantly Christian (which is a plus in my book!).

The album that changed Christian rock forever. Petra and Rez Band were making great music at this time, but Stryper made Christian rock music get accepted. Without Stryper and this particular record, the Christian music scene would be entirely different. It is unbelievable how much success they received over this album, and it was all for God's glory. Think how many people's lives were changed through hearing this album. I agree with another person's comments concerning the title track. It is still haunting and absolutely awesome.

NOT MUCH TO BE SAID. THIS IS THE GREATEST CHRISTIAN ALBUM EVER, BY THE GREATEST CHRISTIAN BAND EVER!!

THE BEST! (one correction however, it was the song "calling on you" that was the #1 single on the record, and as I recall it was #1 for 3 weeks on Mtv's top 10 daily call-in video request show.) "Rockin' The World" used to be my least favorite song on it, but now even it gives me the "warm fuzzies". I guess this album get's even better with age.

Soldiers was my first Stryper album and although very "raw" I thought that added to its appeal. I was really into metal in a big way at the time and bought the album out of curiosity. However To hell with the devil was amazing and just blew me away, especially the intro to the title track. Stryper were the first band that I could listen to without my father fearing for my soul!!!!!! darker things in life. Everytime I listened to Stryper, it was different than listening to "ordinary metal bands". I can't explain it but real fans will know exactly what I mean. STRYPER ROCKS!!!!!!!!!

Definitely the best Christian metal band ever. Apart from the more secular `Against the Law` this is easily the best offering from Stryper. `To Hell with the Devil` went platinum in `88.
