Extremely addictive. The first time I got a hold of this album I listened to at least four times in a row and then at least once everytime I drove somewhere.

Pet Sounds took rock music where it had never gone before up to that time. Brian Wilson set out and constructed a work of art that stands the test of time, even in 1996. Even the The Beatles ST. Pepper album has grown tired at this point. However the mucsical arrangements and the vocal arrangement set forth by Brian will live on forever. It is an effort that has not been equaled since it's creation, neither by Brian or any other musical icon since. Putting it on equal footing with the work of Mozart and Beethoven is not an exaggeration but a complement to these two musical geniuses. Paul McCartney has acknowledged Pet Sounds to be the greatest album ever recorded by a modern day artist. Ditto for Tom Petty. Pet Sounds is truly Brian Wilson's magnum opus.

I could describe "Pet Sounds" with one word: Phenomonal. So much has been said and written about the song writing skills of Lennon/McCartney, but with "Pet Sounds", Brian Wilson eclipsed everyone. Period. "God Only Knows" is the most beautiful song ever written. The album takes us deep into the recesses of the mind of a musical genius. "Pet Sounds" remains today, 30 years later, the single most influential rock lp of all time.

where the fuck is the stereo pet sounds??!!?? I heard one track on cmj sampler and it blew the mono version away! Capitol records suck. so does mike love. Was this just more empty promises from brian again? We love brian for what he has done, but it is annoying to be promised stuff and then have it not come thru. We are after all providing his paycheck. JOHNBEAR, pal of angelas.

Yes, this is a great record, but just the songs separately are not really anything special. Taken out of context, I mean. You really have to listen to the record as a whole. Of course, there are some exceptions, both good and bad. But this album is up there with the best of the Beatles, Rolling Stones and all the other great bands of the 60s.

What is all the fuss abouyt? Usually I like all the 'greatest albums of all time' choices you see in the press. But this time I felt a little cheated. Whoever compares this with Revolver and Sgt Pepper must still be caught up in the euphoria of the time, and unable to see that the songs sound twee ang vaccuous compared to the Beatles
