Comments for Testament, The Ritual

The "ALBUM NAME" is "The Ritual"! Not Testament, that is only the group name. The accual music type is thrash, although this is their slowest/most produced album to date. This release was the last with ALEX SKOLNICK at Lead Guitar. This is their Fifth Album. So Many Lies (Live) and an edited version of Return to Serenity (missing intro) can be found on the EP titled: Return to the Apocalyptic City which has 4 live tracks and 2 studio versions. This album marked the most produced compared to the releases before it and to the newest release "LOW", is still a very hard hitting, all out METAL/THRASH album. Among the softer tunes: The Ritual and Return to Serenity Some of my favorites include: So Many Lies and Troubled Dreams. The sound is similar to METALLICA's early days (1984-1986) but in all reality, there is no real MATCH to the sound of Testament!

Alex Skolnick's guitar playing and songwriting is very profound on this album! Alex's playing is very agressive and pissed-off, but in a very controlled way.

Step one: put cd in player Step Two: hit repeat button. You cannot get tired of this album. It is flawless.

Alex Skolnick did some of his greatest guitar solo on this album, listen to return to serenity and you'll hear the best Metal|Thrash guitar player ( Marty Friedman of Megadeth is great too).My favorite song on this album are Electric Crown, So many lies and Return to serenity. But my favorite album of Testament is New Order. It's pretty sad that the band doesn't exist anymore(they disband at the begginnig of 1996).
