Comments for The Proclaimers, Sunshine on Leith

I agree that the music has to grow on you, but my how it grows! This is one of my favorite albums. A lot of the songs are really beautiful, with a lot of sharp accoustic guitar work, not to mention the occassional penny whistle and fiddle. I hear that they have some other albums, too: Hit the Highway and This is the Story.

The Proclaimers do indeed have two other albums as mentioned in the previous comment. 'This Is The Story' is (almost) purely acoustic and I think it is far and away the best of their albums. The last track on This Is The Story is a 'band' version of 'Letter From America' and they stayed with the band format for 'Sunshine On Leith' and 'Hit The Highway'.

This is an outstanding album,to be listened to again & again. (It helps if you're Scottish, as the accents are pretty thick!) Forgive me for pointing out the obvious, but there seems to be a strong Scottish Nationalist sentiment running throughout the album. No question these guys are majorly talented, and I'm so pleased to have just found out here they have two more albumsI can buy! Now if I can just find them......

This is driving me nuts. Does anybody know what the lyrics are to the song "I'm gonna Be"? If so What is the meaning of 'haver', and what do they sing after the chorus? I heard a punk version and they clearly sang 'surrender', but I don't think that's it. Anybody? Rob Phillips Calgary musician

Hi, Your answer to what does "haver" mean. It means to talk nonsence, gab. We love the boys too, and are waiting for their new album.
The group consists of two guys (Craig and Charlie Reid) who are twins. "I`m Gonna Be" was the opening song for the movie Benny and Joon. That`s the first time I heard of them. I love the album, but I think it has to grow on you. If you are a fan, there is a fan club. Write to: The Proclaimers, P.O. Box 309, Edinburgh EH91JE
