I have all the Beatles albums and I agree, Yellow submarine is not for your true Beatle fan. I only bought it to have the full collection of album's. As a side note, hope they get together again and God Bless John

A surprisingly frowned-upon album...Yellow Submarine is much better than the critics would have you believe. "Hey Bulldog" is a rocker twenty years ahead of its time, and George Martin's instrumental numbers provide an interesting compliment to the actual band material. Worth a second listen...

I love the first side.I've never listened to the second side after hearing bits of it at a friend's.

The four new songs done for this are interesting, but not fantastic. An old LP copy of this will suffice. But as rarities or whatever thoise tunes are pretty nice.

When i bought the CD I was expecting another wounderful Beatles album but much to my suprise this album sucked! When did The Beatles start writing for Disney? Horrible, horrible! I returned the CD right away, I am so ashamed to even think The Beatles has anything to do with that sad display of 'music'.

Bad, bad, bad, and I'm a hardcore fan....WEll let's see..."Only A Northern Song" is much better on Anthology 2..."All Together Now" is ok I spose..."Hey Bulldog"...not really that wonderful..."It's All Too Much"...easily the best thing on the album...the other two songs are old and the rest of it is shit. The Beatles kick ass

Everyone seems to down this album, but I feel it's another excercise in growth. Only a Northern Song does sound better on Anthology because of the speeded up tempo. It should probably be faster and a little harder.

It's their weakest but still has enough to make it interesting. Fans of the group Big Country should pay special attention to the guitar sound on It's All Too Much.

Yellow Submarine is an album for hard core Beatles fans.

Having produced all the Beatles albums with the exception of Let it Be. Yellow Submarine was definitely my favourite. Currently producing Paul McCartney's new album which has the working title of That Noel Gallagher stole my my songs,allegedly.

Everyone seems to be missing the point here. "Yellow Submarine" is deliberately NOT a "Beatles album," it is a movie soundtrack. No one seems to trash Eric Clapton, for example, for providing a single hit song (If I Could Change Your World)to the movie "Phenomenon", nor is his musicianship or album-making brought into question. The film "Yellow Submarine" was made with the Beatles' blessing, but not by the Beatles, and not by Peter Max. It was the brainchild of some very cutting-edge animators who did a great job of encapsulating the pop-culture iconography of the turned-on sixties times. yeah, they may have 'sillied it up' with Blue Meanies instead of blood-and-guts 'bad guys', but by doing so they illustrated the folly of wars, enmities, and violences as a means to achieving one's own personal bliss. While politicians and an older generation somewhere beyond the 'gap' attempted (ineffectively) to convince us that we were still the good guys (With God On Our Side, of course) and the vietcong were lower life forms worthy of our derision and napalm, the metaphorical Blue Meanies showed us that all warring participants are simply overgrown saddened children who wreak their revenge upon everything outside of them. Love and the spirit of music that moves within us without us is truly all we need: a fantasy for sure, a dreamer's dream, "but I'm not the only one." Yeah, as a cultural coming-of-age mass unit, we children of the sixties set our aspirations high. And if we displayed naivety, well, compared to the horrific knowledge of young girls burning with napalm, such ignorance is truly bliss. The music contributed by the Beatles, still, was amazingly avant-garde. Hey Bulldog rocked in stark spareness well ahead of its time. And George Harrison's multi-textual It's All Too Much is the best example of western mantra making since "he came along to turn on everyone". Tell you what, I'd LOVE to live in Pepperland.

Are the 4 songs worth it for buying this whole album? I think they are. The classical music isn't that terrible. I would have put the 4 songs on Past Masters Vol. 2

I think this album rocks! The orchestral songs are okay, I guess, but the Beatle songs are awesome.

Being that I HATE almost everything from the Beatles-- I could actually stand this album. Maybe it was the fact that this was not a " true " Beatles creation, I don't know, but in all aspects it was genuinely entertaining.

George's 'Only a northern Song is about the only curiosity on this. A project that was probably best not ventured. At the time they needed some songs for the animated film. Could have been a rush job, but who cares, it was the beatles experimenting and thats ok. No harm done.

The old Star Trek had a great universal peace message - that everyone should love each other & work together. Look at the main characters: a northerner, a southerner, a Vulcan, a scottish man, an african woman, a chinese man, a russian: people are people & you shouldn't hate someone because of the color of their skin or where they are from. If everyone works together, the world is a better place. Star Trek was a groundbreaking show. - the "All You Need Is Love" of science fiction.

It's a cable channel that shows nothing but science fiction TV shows & movies (including the 3 Star Wars sometimes). I'm not a big sci-fi fan except for the original Star Trek.

It also shows these really really old sci-fi movies back from the 50s and older. I watched one where a UFO was terrorizing a town and you could see the strings attached to it. Cheap effects, but that's all that was available way back when. One show that I absolutely hate is The Pretender.

"Only aNorthern Song" is certainly a song only for the truefan, and "It`s All Too Much" tries to capture thepseudo-Hendrix-influenced-guitar wailing thatonly Hendrix himself could produce.The orchestrations are very good, but they are notwhat you would expect to find on a Fab Four album.
