To get to know the muses best try "The Real Ramona" which is, in my eyes, their best Album.

The 4AD release of this CD (catalogue CAD 802 CD) contains "The Fat Skier" minus the track "Soul Soldier". This is only previously available as a mini album.

this album is so incredible, it's so intricate and beautifully written, the songs fit together so well, it gets better each time you listen

Kristin Hersh reached her musical zenith on this album - as great as some of her other songs have been nowhere has she hit every imaginable musical and emotional nerve as well as here. I actually save this record for special occasions like a vintage wine... some of my favorite songs ever.
A short but worthwhile album! In case your unfamiliarwith the `Muses`, they were a four piece band with KristinHersh singing lead vocals and playing guitar; Tanya Donellyplaying lead and also providing vocals; David Narcizo ondrums; and several bass players over the years. TanyaDonelly left to join the Breeders and to later form thefamed `Belly`. As of `92 the Muses were still around asa 3 piece set. In my opinion, the earlier Muses(with Tanya) was basically the coolest shit around. Kristin`s jaunting lyrics mixed with moody harmoniesand weaving guitar is almost too much -Excellent live shows! Definitely worth your while to catch them live if you can (even minus Tanya) asKristin Hersh is amazing!
